Chess club students (in 3rd-5th grade) will advance their chess knowledge beyond the basics explored in the curriculum instruction. In chess club basic tactical instruction is given, exposing the students to various tricks and operations that experienced chess players use to get advantages in the games. Chess strategy is explored from planning, to how to analyze chess positions, to assessing positional elements of a chess position, to decision making, and further. Tournament competition is also an exclusive part of the club and usually takes place on Saturday.
